Dear Isaac,
You are currently my favorite baby age of all time. You are perfection. You aren't crawling yet so you can't get into too much trouble, you are sleeping through the night most nights, you take great naps, you're super smiley, and I'm your favorite person in the world. It doesn't get any better than this and I'm eating it up!
Your big milestone of the month is that you learned how to sit up on your own. I feel bad because I think that you were capable of it for a few weeks but I just didn't really let you try. I think you were feeling frustrated all the time because I kept laying you down on your back. One day, the light bulb finally went off in my head and I was like, "Oh! He's probably ready to start sitting up!" I tried helping you with it and you got it on your first day. You were able to sit for like 20 or 30 minutes without getting tired. Armed with this new found skill, you've been a totally different baby. You've been so happy! You're a lot more content than you were when we were laying you down on your back all the time.
You finally became interested in eating this month. Once you made the decision, there was no turning back. You are our little human vacuum and will enthusiastically suck down anything we put in front of you. It is so adorable and fills my heart with so much happiness. Nothing brings me more joy than watching you wolf down food and smack your little lips. You love to eat! Whenever we put a little taste of something in your mouth, you start waving your arms and hands around wildly and kicking your little legs. At the beginning of the month, you didn't want anything to do with eating off of a spoon and only wanted bits of what we were eating, but you've been doing better with a spoon and fork the past few days. Out of our three boys, you're our best eater so far and I love it. I hope you always love food, especially because I love it so much. Maybe it could be a common interest for us.
You have one tiny little tooth (the bottom right) and it simultaneously makes me want to squeeze you and weep in the corner. It makes me realize how fast you're growing up but it's too adorable to hold it against you. Your second hasn't quite broken through but I bet it will only be a matter of a few days before it has made its appearance too.
You do this funny little thing lately where you twist your wrists while opening and closing your hands and flailing your arms around. You do it whenever you get excited about something or when you're overstimulated. It's pretty funny. I remember Oliver doing the exact same thing when he was a baby, probably about your age.
You are taking two naps a day and they're fairly long and consistent. I put you down 3 hours after you wake up in the morning and again 3 hours after you wake up from your first nap. It always works like a charm. I nurse you until you're really sleepy but I try to not let you fall into a deep sleep while nursing. If you look like you're getting too deep, I pull you off and put you in your crib. Each nap usually ranges from one to two hours. You always wake up smiley, rosy, and refreshed. It's lovely.
I am having so much fun with you. When I wake up in the morning, I'm so excited to see you. I love walking into your room, scooping you up, and planting kisses all over you. I love hearing your little giggle and squeezing you. I always miss you after you go to bed for the night and I lay there thinking about how much I love you before I fall asleep. Thanks for being such a delight!
I love you,
Mama
