Isaac: 5 Years Old

Dear Isaac,

Holy cow, child! You are a handful!!! You never stop talking. You never stop moving. You never stop singing, whining, yelling, laughing, or making some kind of noise. Your dad and I always laugh about how the only time you're quiet and still is when you're sleeping. You are so silly! You love to say and do funny things to try to get people to laugh. The name Isaac means "he who laughs," which couldn't fit you any more perfectly. It's amazing how the names we've given our children all fit them so well.

Believe it or not, your love for art is still growing strong. You're kind of over coloring pages but have moved on to drawing things on your own. You like to copy Eli and make your own comic books. They're about different adventure you want to go on and are soooooo adorable. We've recently discovered a YouTube channel called "Art for Kids Hub" that you absolutely love. A dad teaches his kids how to draw different things and they upload something new every day.The drawings are usually pretty simple and easy to follow along. It's opened up a whole new world for you. I love seeing how well you're able to replicate what he shows you. You've drawn some pretty amazing stuff!

Because of your late summer birthday, I debated for months about whether to send you to kindergarten or hold you back for another year. I asked all of my friends and lots of them recommended holding you back so that you'd be bigger and stronger and faster for sports. They also said it was benificial socially, a lot of the time, especially for boys. But I know you and I think you're ready. I honestly feel like you'd be bored at home for another year. So I signed you up and off to kindergarten you go! I'm really excited for you and bet you'll do well.

You're a pretty easy going kid for the most part. You love to hang around me, play with friends, help me around the house, and be silly. I can usually get you to try almost any food. You sleep well at night. You're not afraid to talk to adults and older kids. In fact, Eli and Oliver's friends seem to consider you one of their friends too. It's awesome. You are such a bright light in my life and I can't imagine it without you. You're going to do some things with your life and I can't wait to be around to witness it all. I love you so much!

Lots of love,
Mama
