Moses: 20 Months Old
Dear Moses,
You, my son, are a joy. I am totally and completely obsessed with you and try my hardest to soak up every last bit of you. I love picking you up and squeezing you. I love squishing your chubby thighs, belly, and arms. I love the dimples in your knuckles, your big cheeks, and your long eyelashes. I love the way you always want me to hold you and how you like to press your cheek against mine. I love you when you're happy and even when you're not. You can be throwing a huge tantrum and I still can't get enough. I'm serious!
You've gotten so big and independent lately. You think you're big enough to walk through parking lots without holding onto my hand and when I force you to, you twist in protest and throw yourself on the ground. You like to hold your own cup and feed yourself too, which always makes a huge mess.
One of your favorite activities these days is to climb onto a chair and up onto the counter by our desk in the kitchen. You open the cupboards and happily throw things onto the floor. You always look so proud of yourself. You like to zoom cars around the house, empty cupboards and drawers, and color. You always bring the paper to me and hold it up proudly. I always try to show an appropriate level of enthusiasm and excitement about your artwork because I want you to feel proud of your work.
You eat all of your meals while either sitting on the island or while I chase you around the house. Fun for me! You continue to be a terrible eater. Your preferences totally depend on the day and your mood. Most of the time, you refuse pretty much everything I offer you. Your go-to's these days are grapes, cheese, veggie straws, fruit snacks, and raspberries. Occasionally you'll eat other things, but not often.
You spend the first week of your 20th month super sick. You had a high fever for days, actually while we were in St. George for Christmas. You came down with a fever on Christmas Eve morning and had it all through that day, Christmas day, and the day after. I felt so bad for you! I took you into pop pop's office to double check that you didn't have an ear infection. You didn't, thankfully. It was just a nasty virus. You got over it in a week or so but believe it or not, you're actually sick again! Darn winter! Your nose has been running like crazy (I'm talking a fountain of snot) and you've been getting up in the night lately too. On top of it, we've been getting up with Oliver too while we try to potty train him to stay dry through the night. So between the two of you, we've been up like 4-5 times a night lately and we're exhausted. It's like we have a newborn again!
Isaac continues to torment you day and night. I feel so bad for you because he refuses to leave you alone. He pokes you, pushes you, gets up in your face, follow you around, covers your face with blankets and towels, and wrestles you to the ground. You try your best to stand up for yourself but usually just can't win. I apologize on behalf of him since he refuses to do it himself and refuses to be nice to you. I'm sorry, buddy! I hope you two can be good friends someday!
I love you, I like you, I'm glad you're my son. I can't wait for you to start talking so I can hear what's going on inside that big ol' noggin of yours. I can't wait to hear what you think, see, and feel. I love being your mom and love having you around!
xo,
Mama
