Isaac: 9 Months Old

Dear Isaac,

You aren't crawling yet. You don't know how to get up on your hands and knees with your belly off the floor but are just starting to push yourself around the room with your belly still on the floor. The funny thing is that you can only go backwards though. You frequently get stuck against walls and furniture because you've gone as far back as you can. You just sit there and whimper patiently while you wait for me to help you. You can definitely get where you need to go by rolling, pivoting, and scooting backwards.

You have four tiny teeth: the two on bottom and two on top. The top ones have just barely made their appearance within the past few days. They look huge and painful and I hate to say it but I think you're going to have a big gap between them. There have been a few days where I've thought they might be bugging you be cause you're extra fussy, but you've been pretty brave about it all. I can't get enough of your goofy little grin!

I've been trying my hardest to get you to dance, gosh dang it. Every time a song comes on, I dance for you like an idiot while repeating the word "Dance!" over and over. To my delight, you've started to really pick up on it the past few days. You'll move your little body back and forth with a look of concentration on your face. You totally get it and it's adorable.

You have been sleeping like a champ lately, which I am thrilled about. You take two naps a day, one around 10 and one around 3. Each nap is an hour and a half to two hours. You're up for the day around 7 and down for the night around 7:30. I still nurse you before each time I pit you in your crib bit you're getting better at falling asleep on your own. Even if you doze off while nursing and wake up when I set you down, you don't freak out and will roll over and put yourself right back to sleep. It's awesome.

Your eating has taken a turn for the worse this month. You used to eat anything we offered you but lately, you haven't shown much interest. Most of the time when I offer you something, you turn away or push my hand away while shaking your head no. I can usually sneak in a few bites but you certainly don't eat much! I remember Oliver doing the exact same thing, so I'm not stressed about it at all. Honestly! Would I like you to be eating more? Yes! But I know it will come with time and that I just need to be patient until the then.

Isaac, I love you so much. I love your ginger Rd hair and your squishy skin. I love your bright blue eyes and your curious nature. I love nursing you in my arms and I love how much you need me. Thanks for coming I to our family and bringing us so much happiness!

Love,
Mama
